Delirium Noël Review

Name: Delirium Noël

Brewed By: Brouwerij Huyghe

ABV: 10%

Style: Belgian Strong Dark Ale

Purchased: Nocturnem Draft Haus

Delirium Noël poured a murky reddish-orange color with a fluffy, khaki colored head.

It has a distinct smell of Belgian yeast, slightly spicy. There is a hint of burnt sugars and dark fruits, raisins are what I pick up mostly. The malts come through with a biscuity aroma and some toasted notes.

Noël has a caramel sweetness up front that blends into a dark fruit flavor that reminds me of raisins and dates. The biscuits and toasty smells come through in the flavor as well. The Belgian yeast spiciness does a good job of balancing out the sweet flavors. The 10% ABV plays In the flavor as well,  but it works, it’s very smooth and does not come though as hot, but does have a warming sensation in the throat and chest as you swallow.

Overall an excellent beer, I always look forward to having a Delirium Noël this time of year, when I checked the updated tap list for Nocturnem online and saw it, I had to make a trip down. If you like Belgian style beers or are just a fan of winter seasonals I would recommend looking for this one, I’ll be keeping an eye out for a bottle for my beer fridge.

Cheers!
