Coaster Critique: Ayinger Celebrator

Name: Celebrator

Brewed by: Ayinger Brewery

Style: Dopplebock

ABV: 6.7%

Purchased: The Store Ampersand, Orono Maine

Celebrator pours extremely dark brown almost black in the glass with a short khaki colored head.

Smells very malty with brown sugar sweetness, hints of dark fruits in the background, figs and dates mostly. The alcohol is noticeable in the smell but very subtle, the malts mask it pretty well.

This beer tastes like dark roasted grains, similar to a burnt bread flavor. Picking up some light coffee and dark fruit in the background with just a hint of citrus. Smooth mouthfeel, finishes sweet with a lingering bitterness.

Overall a nice drinking beer, flavorful and malty, it was a very enjoyable. I reviewed this beer because I received a request on the Facebook page, I don’t see this one around very often and had to do some searching to find a bottle but I’m glad I did. If you run across a bottle I would recommend picking it up. If you have a beer you’d like me to review please leave me a comment here or on my Facebook page.

Cheers!
