Bull Jagger Brewing Closing its Doors

This morning Twitter and Facebook were buzzing after posts of a Craigslist ad for a Brewery for sale in Portland, Maine. There was a lot of speculation as to whose equipment was being sold and based on photos and videos it was believed to be Bull Jagger Brewing. Around 5pm Bull Jagger updated their Facebook page with the news that they would be closing their brewery.

Bull Jagger opened in the fall of 2011 exclusively brewing lagers and filling a void in the Maine craft beer scene. Other Maine craft brewers do produce lagers occasionally throughout the year but Bull Jagger’s brews were a welcome addition to store shelves and tap lines around the state. They produced 4 different beers, Portland Lager, Big Claw Pilsner, Baltic Porter No.19 and Dirigo Crimson Lager.

I will admit that I prefer an Ale to a Lager but I did enjoy having the option at my local bottle shop and Bull Jagger’s brews often found their way into my beer fridge. I’m happy to hear that Tom Bull will be continuing to brew with another outfit and wish him the best of luck. Bull Jagger’s product will continue to be available on store shelves while supplies last and I encourage you to go out and find some while you can.
