Coaster Critique: Sixpoint Brewing, Apollo

Name: Apollo

Brewed By: Sixpoint Brewery

ABV: 5.2%

Purchased: Bangor Wine and Cheese

Apollo poured very hazy, light amber with gold highlights, steady visible carbonation and thick, bright white head.

Interesting smelling beer, Similar to a hefeweizen, wheat, banana, cloves but I also get a splash of citrus and a bit of tart aroma.

The flavor up front is what I expect from a hefeweizen, wheat, banana and cloves but then it takes a twist and there is some citrus which I associate with orange zest and a nice tart bite that reminds me more of a Berliner Weisse. The beer is medium bodied and finishes dry with an aftertaste of citrus and cloves.

Overall a nice summery wheat beer, all the flavors work really well together, I enjoyed the tart bite; I think it would be a perfect complement to a hot summer day. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys wheat beers especially if they like a slightly tart, not quite sour beer.

Cheers!
