Coaster Critique: Stone 17th Anniversary Götterdämmerung

Name: Stone 17th Anniversary Götterdämmerung

Brewed By: Stone Brewing Company

Style: IPA

ABV: 9.5%

Purchased: Bangor Wine and Cheese

Stone’s 17th Anniversary IPA pours a clear, golden straw color with a tall bright white head.

The nose on this beer is very hop heavy; I get some citrusy notes and dark fruits, just a touch of sweetness.

I love the flavor of this beer, the malt is very light and has just a touch of sweetness but remain clean and crisp and does well to balance out the big hop bitterness. The hops present themselves with a bit of dark fruit flavor, reminds me of raisins with a touch of tropical fruit mixing in there as well. Alcohol is present in the tail end of the taste and plays very well in the flavor of this beer.

Overall an impressive IPA, Stone always pushes the limit of what an IPA can be and their 17th Anniversary offering is no different. I’m impressed with how drinkable this 102 IBU beer is it’s almost scary how easy this beer goes down at 9.5% ABV. If you are a fan of Stone Brewing or just a hophead in general I would recommend picking this beer up.

Cheers!
