Brewed By: Baxter Brewing Company
Style: California-style lager
ABV: 5.3%
Tarnation pours a bright copper color with shimmers of red and gold as the light hits it, pour produced a frothy white head that lingered the entire glass.
Nose is malty, biscuits and yeast with just a touch of earthy hops in the background.
The flavor is malt forward and slightly sweet, similar to the aroma the malt has a baked biscuit flavor, the yeast seems to also have some light fruity notes. Mid sip the beer dries out and a pleasant, earthy, slightly spicy hop flavor finishes off the sip. Mouthfeel is crisp and clean like I would expect from a lager.
I enjoyed Tarnation from Baxter Brewing Company in Lewiston, Maine. The beer is crisp, clean and full of flavor with a nice kick of hops. I would recommend this to anyone especially those friends who haven’t found a craft beer that they like. There are very few breweries in Maine brewing this style of beer and I don’t believe any other breweries in Maine are packaging it. I’m sure Tarnation will find its way into my cooler a lot this summer.
Cheers!
