Thank you to Atlantic Brewing Company for getting a sample in my hands prior to the beers official release.

Kolsch

Name: Spring Ginger Kölsch

Brewed By: Atlantic Brewing Company

Style: Kölsch

ABV: 4.4%

Ginger Kölsch pours a beautiful shimmering straw-gold color with a bone white head, the beer is crystal clear.

A pleasant smelling beer, light crackery malt, a touch of earthy hops and a slightly sweet, fresh ginger aroma.

Easy drinking, the malt body is light with a slight sweetness up front followed immediately by a delicate ginger spice. There is just a hint of bitterness that rounds out the sweetness from the malt and the spice from the ginger. This beer has a crisp, clean mouthfeel and finishes dry with a pleasant ginger aftertaste.

I am very happy to have had the opportunity to try this beer before it’s released to the public. Overall a superbly balanced, delicately spiced spring offering that would drink like a champ all summer but I don’t think will last that long. The pressed ginger addition in the kettle has given this beer a perfect fresh ginger flavor that is not overpowering in the least, combined with a cool fermentation and lagering to leave the beer crisp and clean. I could see this beer pairing quite well with seafood, sushi in particular.

Cheers,
