What is your all Maine brewer dream team-up? And why?

I want to go big and adventurous on this all Maine collaboration. I thought about styles you don’t see coming from Maine breweries. The light bulb turned on with the idea of Allagash and Bissell Brothers Brewing collaborating on a 100% Brett IPA. With Bissell Brothers has developed a bright hoppy beer with juicy citrus and tropical fruit flavors in “The Substance”. With the Brett fermentation expertise of Allagash, I think it would produce a beer that would highlight those beautiful hop flavors while adding some sour funk in the mix. I have to stop! I want one now!

What would your Maine + U.S. Brewery Team-up look like?

For this question I wanted to go with two breweries that like to blaze their own trails. What if Marshall Wharf Brewing and Night Shift Brewing teamed-up? I’m thinking Marshall Wharf’s Illegal Ale-ien, a Hybrid Kolsch/wheat beer, gives a good base. Then with the Maine blueberries and cinnamon sticks from Night Shift’s Mainer Weisse, a Berliner Weisse with the two aforementioned ingredients added for flavor, could make a good summer brew. Illegal Mainer?

What would your Maine + International Brewery team-up look like

I’m a huge fan of the Belgian Lambic style. Because of this, I would love to see Allagash Brewing and Hanssens Artisanaal, from Dworp, Belgium, team-up to create a blend of Allagash Resurgam and Hanssens Oude Geueze.

Free for all! Anything goes here as long as there is 1 Maine brewery involved.

I reserved this question for an East Coast Double IPA collaboration. Recently, I have been able to try DIPA’s, from two breweries, that have impressed me a lot. Dirtwolf by Victory Brewing, from Downingtown, PA, and The Uprising! Series from Backlash Brewing, tenant brewing out of Paper City Brewery in Holyoke, MA. I have only tried Riot and Chaos out of this four beer series, but both big juicy DIPA’s were enough for me to guess that the first two beers were euphoria inducing hop bombs. I would love to see both of these breweries team-up with, none other than, Maine Beer Company to create a beautiful kick in the mouth DIPA! Wait! I think we’ve found a name for this brew!
