Coaster Critique: Geaghan Brothers Brewing Batch 200

Name: Batch 200001

Brewed By: Geaghan Brothers Brewing

Style: DIPA w/Simcoe and Amarillo

IBU: 140

ABV: 9.3%

Pours a crystal clear, copper color with golden highlights.

Aroma is dominated by piney, earthy hops with a lemon and pineapple citrus kick and just a hint of alcohol.

Initial sip had grainy, caramel sweetness that dries out immediately and fills your senses with hops. The hop flavor is soft, juicy and tropical, after the swallow a strong piney flavor takes hold and a gentle warming of the belly from the alcohol. Aftertaste is all hops and an aggressive bitter.

Overall a big, in your face hop bomb that isn’t for the casual IPA drinker. If this interests you I’d get to Geaghan’s for a glass before the mug club members drink it all up. I have to thank Geaghan’s for inviting me to their Mug Club release of this beer, they are a fun group to hang out and drink beer with.

Cheers
