Machias Valley Harvest Fair adds craft beer to tasting event

The inaugural Machias Valley Harvest Fair last year included a wine tasting held in the town’s historic railroad depot, Station 1898 and was well received even though the location wasn’t very accommodating for the event. This year’s event will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2014 and has been taken up a notch with the addition of craft beer to the tasting event and an upgraded location.

Currently five craft breweries have signed on to pour a variety of beers at the event alongside the wineries in the Lee Pellon Center. The breweries currently attending; Atlantic Brewing Company, Boston Beer Co. (Sam Adams), Sebago Brewing Company, Baxter Brewing Company and Geaghan Brothers Brewing with a possibility of a sixth brewery in the works.

Attendance to this event is set at two price points:

Wine only sampling or Beer only sampling – $15

Wine and Beer combination – $20

Included in the price of admission for the sampling event is an etched sampling glass that you can bring home and add to your collection.

For parents who would like to attend there will be a staffed child care area outside the Lee Pellon center. Food vendors will be in attendance and there will also be appetizers available in the Lee Pellon center during the tasting event, provided by The French Cellar, Monica’s Chocolates, The Talbot Inn, Garden Side Dairy, Skywalker’s Bar and Grille and Pat’s Pizza.

Proceeds from the event benefit Station 1898 Railroad Depot, a historic landmark in Machias, the money will go towards restoring and maintaining the station as well as part of the train.
