Canoe racing, belt sanders, BBQ, craft beer and more this weekend on MDI

Fans of craft beer may want to head to MDI this weekend for craft beer and fun events on both Saturday and Sunday.

Acadia Fest

Saturday, October 11, 2014 from noon to 6pm is the 19th annual Acadia Oktoberfest at the Smugglers Den Campground in Southwest Harbor. This brewfest includes Beer, Wine, Cider, food vendors, live music and a crafts tents. Admission is $30 and it includes a souvenir tasting glass.

Sunday, October 12, 2014 is looking like a fun filled day as the Atlantic Brewing Company presents The Bar Harbor Racetival. The Racetival kicks off at 11am with registration for the canoe races at Long Pond. Not a pro-racer? dont want to bring along your gear? no worries there will be canoes, paddles and pfd’s available on site. Races are casual and are run in a round robin format starting at noon. At 2:30pm back at the Atlantic Brewery, the Mainely Meats BBQ Competition takes place, bring along your best BBQ to enter into the competition. At 3pm the competition heats up as the Belt Sander races begin, this years theme is Disco. The brewery will not be open for tours during the event but the tasting room will be open for samples and bottles available for purchase. This event is held to benefit the Muir Fund for local cancer support.
