Coaster Critique: Magic Hat Snow Roller

On the third day of Beermas:

SnowRoller

Name: Snow Roller

Brewed By: Magic Hat Brewing Company

Style: American Brown Ale

ABV: 6.2%

Pours a deep brown that glows a ruby red when held to the light. Slightly hazy in the glass with a short white head that lingers for the entire glass.

Nose smells of dark bread, roasted grains and a grassy hops with a hint of grapefruit citrus.

Flavor is hop forward, initially it’s a bit piney, some citrus notes, malt comes through as bready with some yeasty notes. The back end of this sip becomes aggressive, the hops take on a grassy, bitter flavor that holds on well after the swallow. Snow Roller is medium bodied with bitter aftertaste and a buttery, slick mouthfeel.

Overall not a beer for me, I love my hops, I don’t love the grassy flavor paired with the aggressive bitterness on the tail end of the sip. I wish Magic Hat had gone with another hop variety for flavoring in this one that’s what it boils down too. Check it out for yourself if a grassy flavor profile suites you.

Cheers
