Goodbye In’finiti, Hello Liquid Riot Bottling Company

In’finiti Fermentation & Distillation in Portland closed it’s doors in early January for maintenance, they are opening back up tomorrow, January 16, 2015 at 3pm but regulars will notice a few changes.

Infinity

First off, In’finiti is no more, due to other breweries opening in the past couple of years that named themselves Infinity or something similar. Not wanting to confuse their customers or to mire themselves in legal battles, In’finiti simply changed their name. In’finiti Fermentation & Distillation will now be known as Liquid Riot Bottling Company. Inspiration for the name came from the Portland rum riot in 1855 and the Chicago beer riots.

The other change comes when you step inside, instead of a restaurant, Liquid Riot Bottling Company will take on a tasting room vibe. The upper seating section has been removed so that everyone is on one level, the focus is now on the beer as well as cocktails crafted with their house spirits. Food will still be available whether you’re looking for a meal or an appetizer but the focus has been brought back around to the brewery and distillery.

The change is unfortunate for In’finiti but lawsuits and battles over naming rights and trademark disputes seem to be the new normal in craft beer, good on Liquid Riot for taking the high road, making a change and securing a trademark for their new identity.

Liquid Riot Bottling Company opens its doors at 250 Commercial Street in Portland tomorrow evening at 3pm, check out their new look.

Cheers
