Big Brew Day in Downtown Bangor to celebrate National Homebrew Day

The American Homebrewers Association(AHA) hosts Big Brew Day on the first Saturday of May each year. This year Big Brew Day is on May 2, 2015.

AHA Big Brew Day is a celebration of National Homebrew Day which went into effect in 1988 and is officially May 7th.

Each Year the AHA invites people and homebrew shops to register their Big Brew Day events, they track the number of events, participants and batches of beer brewed. In 2014 there were Big Brew Day events held in 49 states and in a total of 14 countries. 2,200 batches of beer were brewed totalling 17,550 gallons of homebrew. Central Street Farmhouse in Downtown Bangor held one of those events last year and they are doing it again this year.

Saturday, May 2, 2015 at 2pm in the Central Street Farmhouse pocket park the public is welcome to come out and be part of Big Brew Day 2015. There will be 5-6 local homebrewers on hand brewing beer using a variety of methods.  Whether you are a homebrewer yourself or interested in seeing the process or maybe you are just looking for a reason to get outside, this is an event worth checking out. I’ve attended brew days in the pocket park, it’s a good time chatting up local homebrewers and learning about their hobby.

Check out the Central Street Farmhouse Facebook event for more details and if you can’t make the Big Brew Day, Central Street Farmhouse also hosts Homebrew 101 classes that are 100% free and are another opportunity to check out homebrewing.
