Maine Brewers Guild announces summer brewfest

I have had July 25, 2015 circled on the calendar since January. I posted my annual list of New England Brewfests with July 25th simply reading “Maine Brewers Guild Fest – Thompson Point, ME” because that was the extent of the details at the time but it’s one of the festivals I had targeted early to attend.

The Maine Brewers Guild has announced the Summer Session Beer Festival, it will be held on Thompson Point, the site of the Sierra Nevada Beer Camp event last year that was very successful. The festival will be held on Saturday, July 25th, 2015 from 1pm-5pm, tickets are on sale now.

Ticket Prices:

  • $60 – VIP Ticket
  • $45 – General Admission
  • $20 – Designated Driver

For those who attended the Beer Camp festival last year you can probably expect a similar event, lots of space, live music, plenty of food trucks, more than adequate bathroom accommodations and without a doubt the best lineup of craft brewers from Maine and from away, yes away, participating brewers will be inviting friends from out of state to come and play.

The Brewers Guild has been working hard to create a brewfest experience that isn’t the same tired brewfest, because standing in a crowd under a tent with a handful of tickets is played out.

“We’ve been thinking a lot about how to create the best beer festival, and we’ve made a lot of decisions with the attendees in mind.” explained Sean Sullivan, Executive Director of the Maine Brewers’ Guild, the nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote and protect Maine’s craft beer industry. “Too many festivals these days involve overcrowded venues with long lines and little opportunity to engage with the people behind the beer. Our festival will be the opposite.”

Need a break from sampling? The Brewers guild has been hosting “Beer School” events around the state at participating breweries, some of these events have sold out in just hours and based on that success they will be holding Mini Beer School events at the brewfest. Brewers will have short presentation and answer questions, these are open to all event attendees at no cost.

There will also be some friendly competition at the festival, the Home Grown Trophy is up for grabs, the brewer who brews the best beer made with Maine ingredients – judged by the festival attendees – will win the trophy and serious bragging rights. This event is sponsored by the Maine Malt House, a newly opened malting facility in Mapleton, Maine.

This is the brewfest to be at this summer, so grab your tickets and start planning, maybe I’ll see you on Thompson Point in July.

Cheers!
