That time I had an Existential Crisis and enjoyed it

To be clear, I haven’t been pondering my self worth, my direction or what the meaning of life is but I have been sipping beers at Orono Brewing Company again, and their existential crisis is much easier to deal with.

Name: Existential Crisis

Brewed By: Orono Brewing Co.

Style: Hibiscus Saison

ABV: 5.1%

Pours a bright copper with hints of red and gold. Pour produced a fine white head kept alive by a steady stream of bubbles.

Nose is yeasty, slightly peppery definitely the saison yeast shining through with hints of flowery hibiscus in the background.

Existential Crisis is a solid saison, a bready malt body with an earthy, spicy yeast flavor, a touch of hop bitterness keeps everything balanced. The hibiscus is a gentle, floral almost fruity flavor that floats through the entire sip and leaves you with a pleasant aftertaste.

I have a thing for hibiscus beers, I can’t quite explain it but when I see one I have to check it out. Existential Crisis hit all the right notes for me, the Saison is not overwhelmed by hibiscus and vice versa, which could have easily been the case. With this beer Brewmaster Asa Marsh-Sachs has blended and balanced flavors that can be both strong and delicate with precision, resulting in a unique and flavorful beer.

Cheers,

Chaddah.
