Little Horror of Hops

Name: Little Horror of Hops023

Brewed By: Shipyard Brewing Company

Style: Rye IPA

ABV: 5.9%

Pours a dark red-gold color, looks a bit like tarnished copper with hints of gold when held to the light, pour produced a slightly off white head.

Nose is hop forward, vegetal, fresh cut grass with a hint of black pepper and yeasty notes.

The initial flavor is dominated by the rye, a peppery spiciness that slowly melds with a grassy hop flavor with hints of citrus. This beer has a mild bitterness that lasts long after the sip. Little Horror of Hops is medium in body with a mouthfeel that is slick at first sip but dries out in the finish.

Overall just ok. I like the rye in this beer, that peppery flavor is on point but I didn’t care for the hop profile, a bit too grassy for my taste. If you dig a hoppy beer with those grassy notes and you are a fan of other Shipyard offerings -because it does taste like a Shipyard beer-  this will be a winner, otherwise I wouldn’t recommend it.

Cheers,
